This month we opened the factory doors to hold one of our favourite events in the calendar: Heritage Day! The day is always a joy to host, filled with warm memories and providing an opportunity for our lovely team to share their passion about our Standfast & Barracks history and the exciting work we do.
Proudly printing fabric since 1924, we had almost a century of heritage to explore with guests, with many loving the opportunity to finally discover what lies behind the iconic clocktower wall here in the heart of Lancaster.
Over 200 guests were welcomed on site, with 9 tours setting off from 9:15am -15:15pm. Starting out in our stunning showroom, guests could view our Heritage Display showcasing our rich history. The day also provided a lovely chance to reflect on the nation's loss at the Queen's passing with a book of condolence. The tour then continued with an opportunity for the history to come alive, exploring our historic factory water tower, grey room, preparation room and rotary printing and flatbed printing which are still used today.
Moving into the digital era of fabric printing, guests were next taken to see our state-of-the-art Ecofast™ Digital machine, which has become increasingly popular as the industry moves towards more sustainable production methods and outdoor cloths. Digital pigment uses 70-80 litres less water per metre than conventional printing, thus can greatly help reduce our environmental impact. The tours then led our visitors around the finishing and make up departments - the final production stages which ensure our prints are of the highest quality and handle.
Having gained an understanding of how the printing process works, our guests were taken to our design studio and extensive, "mind blowing" archive to take a glimpse at the work our design team do in collaboration with clients, from design generation to archive adaptations, separation and colouration.
With a range of design services and large-scale printing processes available it would be our pleasure to send you more information or samples of our cloths so you can feel the handle for yourself, please don’t hesitate to get in touch at enquiries@standfast-barracks.com.
