Textile Laboratory Assistant
Standfast & Barracks is the UK’s leading specialist printer of high end furnishing, apparel and camouflage fabrics. Based in Lancaster, it has been printing fabrics for over 90 years and is one of the most versatile and capable printers in the world, producing the finest quality prints.
We are looking for a Textile Laboratory Assistant to support the QA Technician in the testing of all products submitted to the Laboratory in accordance with all current international standards and specifications.
You will be responsible for ensuring that all testing is completed within a reasonable timeframe with results and test reports prepared and issued to the appropriate personnel.
Specific Responsibilities include:
Logging of lab patterns on to the core system.
Production of test worksheets.
Preparation of test specimens.
Testing in accordance with current BS/ISO/M&S standard and specifications.
Preparation of lab patterns for external testing.
Production of test reports.
Recording of test results on to the core system.
General administration tasks.
Preparation of chemical solutions.
Liaising with Sales on progress of testing.
Ensuring all calibration and maintenance checks are completed.
Working in line with Health & Safety procedures.
Essential Skills and Experience Required:
A good level of Maths, English and Science.
Good attention to detail.
Well organised with a methodical approach to working.
Good communication skills (verbal and written)
A good level of ability with Word and Excel.
A genuine interest in textiles
Previous Textile testing experience is preferred but not essential as full training will be given.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm (37.5 hrs per week).
You will be a team player who is self-motivated and takes pride in their work.
